The accused had his eye on a young woman living near his home and had been monitoring her movements. Seizing an opportunity when she was alone, he attempted to rape her. When she resisted, he strangled her, cutting off her breath.
He raped her after she lost consciousness. The murder of the 21-year-old nurse, who worked at a private hospital in the Pahadishareef police station limits of Ranga Reddy district, has caused a stir. Police have confirmed that Sana Ullah Khan (40), a native of Bihar who was addicted to watching pornographic videos, committed this heinous act. According to reports, the accused has been taken into custody and is being interrogated.
What the police said—
The young woman, a native of Kothagudem district, had been working as a nurse at a hospital in Tukkuguda, Ranga Reddy district, for the past seven months. She lived in a room designated for staff near the hospital. Sana Ullah Khan, originally from Bihar, had come to the city in search of work. Initially, he worked as a bike mechanic in Uppal.
After returning to Bihar for a while, he came back two months ago and resumed working as a bike mechanic while living in a rented room in Tukkuguda. He has a wife and a son. He spent most of his time watching pornographic videos and had his eye on the nurse living nearby.
He had attempted to enter the woman’s room several times. On Friday night, the woman returned to her room after finishing her shift. The accused, Sana Ullah Khan—who was already intoxicated—noticed that she was alone. He approached the room after midnight. Finding the door locked, he entered through the window. The woman, who was asleep, woke up upon hearing the noise.
She screamed upon seeing Sana Ullah Khan. He gagged her and attempted to rape her. When she resisted, he strangled her. He then raped her while she was unconscious and struggling to breathe. Upon realizing she had died, he fled the scene.
When the nurse did not report for duty at 9:00 AM on Saturday, hospital staff tried calling her. After she failed to respond to calls from neighbors in the adjacent room, they informed her aunt, who lives in Maheswaram.
Her cousin became worried when repeated calls went unanswered. Eventually, hospital staff went to check her room in the afternoon. Finding the door locked, they entered through the window. Upon discovering the nurse’s lifeless body, they alerted the police.
Shamshabad DCP Rajesh, Pahadishareef Inspector Lakshminarayana Reddy, and the ‘Clues’ team inspected the scene. The body was taken to Osmania Hospital. A case has been registered at the Pahadishareef police station, and an investigation is underway. According to reports, the accused, Sana Ullah Khan—who was preparing to flee—has been taken into custody and is being interrogated.
On Sunday evening, the deceased’s family members and BJP leaders staged a protest outside the Osmania Hospital mortuary. Andela Sriramulu, the BJP in-charge for the Maheswaram constituency, demanded that the accused be hanged. The atmosphere remained tense for a while during the protest. Following a post-mortem examination conducted under police security, the Pahadishareef police handed over the nurse’s body to her family.
Minister Seethakka expressed shock on Sunday over the murder of the young woman who worked as a nurse. She stated that the incident had deeply disturbed her. She sought details of the case from local police officials and telephoned DGP CV Anand, instructing him to ensure a thorough investigation. She emphasized the need for immediate steps to secure justice for the victim’s family and assured them of government assistance.
